DANCE FOR $20.09 TICKETS ON SALE TODAY AS POPULAR MIXED BILL SHOW RETURNS TO VAIL INTERNATIONAL DANCE FESTIVAL AUGUST 4

VAIL, Colorado—At long last! Tickets go on sale TODAY for the Vail International Dance Festival’s Dance for $20.09 performance on August 4, a showcase evening featuring a mixed bill of breathtaking dance. And with tickets priced at just $20.09 for reserved seating and $9 for lawn seating, it’s truly an evening you can’t afford to miss.

Tickets for Dance for $20.09, as well as all other 2009 Dance Festival performances, are available online at vaildance.org, by calling the box office at 888.920.ARTS(2787) or at the Vilar Performing Arts Center box office window in Beaver Creek.

Created by Festival Artistic Director Damian Woetzel last summer in an effort to make dance more accessible, both from a price and programming perspective, the evening is specifically designed to provide the audience with a wide variety of dancers and dance styles.

“You could easily pay several times as much for a seat in the rafters of a huge theatre in New York to see a lineup like this,” Woetzel said. “Instead, here you’ll be, only a few yards from the stage, seeing some of the finest dancers in the world perform right before your eyes. Or, for less than the price of a movie ticket, you can spread out a picnic blanket and enjoy the performance from the beautiful outdoor perspective of the Amphitheater lawn.”

Dance for $20.09 will feature the triumphant return of Buckets & Tap Shoes to the Vail International Dance Festival.  The unique troupe of musicians, percussionists and rhythm tap dancers have astounded audiences worldwide with their intense driving rhythms with 5-gallon buckets, metal cans, found objects and tap shoes, while also mixing things up with traditional musical instruments.

The evening will also feature The Bakery, a group founded by former Ballet Frankfurt dancer Richard Siegal and dedicated to the exploration and production of contemporary performance. Also featured on the bill are Argentine tango star Gabriel Misse, considered one of the great “milongueros” of this generation, and his partner Natalia Hills.

Rounding out the Dance for $20.09 performance roster will be swing sensations Naomi Uyama and Todd Yannacone, along with New York City Ballet stars Daniel Ulbricht and Tiler Peck.

One of the foremost summer dance celebrations in the world, the 2009 Vail International Dance Festival’s lineup is also highlighted by the return of tap legend Savion Glover, in addition to the residency of Christopher Wheeldon and Morphoses/The Wheeldon Company. The full Festival lineup can be found at www.vaildance.org.

Tickets for the 2009 Vail International Dance Festival are priced from $9 to $85 and are available online at www.vaildance.org or by phone at either (970) 845-TIXS (8497) or 888-920-ARTS (2787). The Box Office is open from 11am – 5pm MST Monday through Saturday; tickets are available online 24 hours per day.
