Media Contact: John Dakin (970) 949-1999 jdakin@vvf.org TREAT MOM TO THE GIFT OF DANCE THIS MOTHERS DAY VAIL, Colorado—Comedian Jay Leno maintains that “you’re not famous until my mother’s heard of you.” Mrs. Leno aside, you can ensure that you will get along famously with your own mom this Mothers Day by treating her to the gift of the Vail International Dance Festival. Slated for July 27 through August 10, tickets are currently on sale for the majority of the 11 Festival performances, with individual tickets priced from $9-$85. “This is going to be a very special summer for the Festival,” explained festival director Damian Woetzel. “We have so many exceptional artists joining us this year—there is going to be an amazing variety of the best in dance today.” The 2009 Festival includes the much anticipated return of tap dance legend Savion Glover, along with the third year residency of internationally renowned choreographer Christopher Wheeldon and Morphoses/The Wheeldon Company. The season also features popular favorites such as the International Evenings of Dance with stars from around the world, Ballroom’s Best, and the second season of the specially priced mixed bill evening, Dance for $20.09. New to the Vail International Dance Festival this year is the much acclaimed Miami City Ballet. In two evenings of outstanding artistry, Miami City Ballet’s performances will highlight the masterpieces of the legendary choreographer George Balanchine, and will also focus on the career of one of America’s greatest artists, the company’s artistic director Edward Villella. The 2009 Vail International Dance Festival will once again be rounded out with free performances in Vail Village, master dance classes and Celebrate the Beat, a music and dance educational program targeting Eagle County students. So say thanks to mom May 10 with the gift of dance. Perhaps Mrs. Leno will hear of you because of your thoughtfulness. Tickets to the Festival are available online at www.vaildance.org or by phone at 845-TIXS (8497) or 888-920-ARTS (2787). Discounted Festival passes and student passes are also available. Gift certificates for any denomination can be customized for your gift as well. The Vail International Dance Festival is a project of the Vail Valley Foundation.
