Festival Director Damian Woetzel, inspired by the wildly successful ‘Fall for Dance’ program of a similar nature in New York City, has brought the concept to Vail for 2008, the 20th anniversary season of the Festival. “We created Dance for $20.08 as a celebration of the diversity of dance we present throughout our two week Festival,” Woetzel explained. “We also wanted to present an evening at a special ticket price-point, expanding our audience and encouraging both dance lovers, as well as first-time Festival-goers, to come out for an incredible evening of dance.” Furthermore, Woetzel explains, the intimacy and uniqueness of the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater promises to make this evening a completely special experience for all in attendance. “You could pay several times as much for a seat in the rafters of a huge theatre in New York to see a lineup like this,” Woetzel said of the $20.08 reserved seating. “Instead, here you’ll be, only a few yards from the stage, seeing some of the finest dancers in the world perform right before your eyes. Or, for less than the price of a movie ticket, you can spread out a picnic blanket and enjoy the performance from the beautiful outdoor perspective of the Amphitheater lawn.” The evening features a mixed bill of cutting edge contemporary, flamenco and internationally renowned classical dance. Keigwin + Company will present their breathtaking athletic dance, which has been described as a combination of “a sure comedic touch with a discernibly beating heart” by The New York Times. The enchanting, feverishly sexy flamenco of Soledad Barrio & Noche Flamenca will keep the heat turned up, while Ashley Bouder and Daniel Ulbricht from New York City Ballet will round out the bill with their unparalleled classical dance. For details on the evening’s repertoire and performing artists, as well as a complete Festival schedule, visit vaildance.org, where you’ll also find a link to buy tickets. All reserved seating, regardless of section or proximity to stage, is $20.08 – so buy early to ensure the best seats in the house! Lawn tickets are $8, and offer general admission seating on a first come, first served basis the night of the show.
