Pacific Northwest Ballet is entering its third residency season with the Vail International Dance Festival. This year, they will perform works by renowned choreographers including George Balanchine ©, Jerome Robbins and Twyla Tharp.
Pacific Northwest Ballet is one of America’s largest and most highly regarded ballet companies, presenting more than 100 performances each year of full-length and mixed repertory ballets in Seattle and around the world. Since its creation in1972, the Company has toured to Europe, Australia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Canada and throughout the United States, with celebrated appearances at the Vail International Dance Festival, Jacob’s Pillow and in New York City and Washington DC.
In July 2005, former New York City Ballet principal dancer Peter Boal succeeded Kent Stowell and Francia Russell as Artistic Director of the company. Under the his direction, Pacific Northwest Ballet continues to expand and diversify its repertory to include works by Ulysses Dove, Susan Marshall, Mark Morris, Victor Quijada, Twyla Tharp, Christopher Wheeldon and others.
Mr. Boal also serves as Director of Pacific Northwest Ballet School. Founded in 1974, the school has become recognized as one of the top three ballet training institutions in the United States offering a complete professional curriculum to over 950 students. The School also provides comprehensive dance education to the greater Seattle area and reaches more than 10,000 adults and children each year through DanceChance, Discover Dance and other outreach programs.
